I normally would stay away from an all out political post, mainly because I think most pepole don’t understand or care enough about politics to pay attention. As I’ve said before nothing is off limits in this blog. So let’s talk about politics and more specifically the presidential election of 2008.

Keep in mind that I have mostly liberal points of view. I think we should have small government and most importantly we should have freedom. When I say freedom I am referring to the freedom to raise my children how I see fit, freedom to teach my kids what I wish, freedom to criticize out government, and even freedom to sign a bad loan and lose my house.

Over the last couple years we have seen a lot of change in our nation. We have been at War for more than 5 years. We have seen the US take several black eyes due to our foreign policy. Our economy is stagnant, gas prices are getting bigger, and the housing market took a shit.

If you are paying attention to the warning signs, none of these things were a surprise.  As Americans we have gotten lazy and complacent and when that happens, you lose your edge on everything. It’s very similar to a business that refuses to change their ways because “that’s the way we’ve always done it”. Those businesses are bound to fail as well.

Throughout history there has always been Nations that got too comfortable with themselves and eventually they either withered away or were conquered. Now, I’m not saying either of these things will happen to the United States, but we are close to the edge. What makes the US such a great place is that everyone is adding to the problem, and the solution. We are the most powerful Nation in the history of the world, and we will not allow ourselves to fail.

We are faced with a very interesting decision this year, one that I honestly think will affect out Country forever. The election of 2008 will determine the most powerful world leader at a time that is perhaps the most crucial of all. The sad fact is who we have left to choose from. Barrack Obama, Hillary Clinton, or john McCain.

I am not thrilled with any of these choices. All are life long politicians that keep pandering to anyone and everyone to get votes. Selling their soles if you will, and for what? Money, Power, greed. Not great choices we have, but if the truth was told, we didn’t have a choice either. If we actually had a say with our votes, George Bush would have never become president in the first place. Imagine how different the world would be……

In part two of this long political rant, I’m going to discuss how we ended up with these three politicians and my thoughts on each of them.
