The title says it all, we could have been out of debt this weekend, but it was not too be. For .20 cents we could have been totally debt free, but it didn’t happen. So you are probably asking yourself, what the F**k is he talking about? Well, it’s a short story with a shitty ending and I have tried to avoid thinking about it since it happened yesterday.

My buddy Roger over at Compatible Poker who has a list of the Best US Poker Rooms is running a contest and who ever had the worst bad beat story win $1000. Let me tell you, I’m a small time poker affiliate and have 6 (that’s right count ‘em) 6 kids ages 10-15. So we need all the money we can get.

Ok, I have a “bad beat” story with a screenshot to prove it. The only thing is that is was playing Caribbean Stud at Carbon Poker and not actually playing poker. I gave my wife a couple hundred to for Valentine’s day to blow off at on online casino, we was playing Caribbean stud that has a progressive jackpot. So, we were sitting together playing Caribbean Stud and having a nice quite evening, which is a rarity in our house.

We were doing good and up a few buck and I didn’t even notice she wasn’t putting the .20 in to play the progressive jackpot. We usually always do even though its a long shot, but we were gambling dammit! Anyway, all is going good and we are relaxing and then this hand happens:

As you can see, we hit a “Royal Flush” and the Progressive Jackpot was worth right under $100,000. Ugh, makes me die a little just thinking about it. I honestly thought my wife was going to be sick or cry or break something. I just sat there kinda stunned and feeling pretty sick. what else can you do? I did decide to screenshot it, but at the time I had decided I would never want to tell this story to anyone because it was just too painful. But, winning a cool 1k would ease the pain somewhat, hell winning $500 would be pretty damn cool too.

Anyway, I honestly don’t think you will find too many people badbeat stories top this one, we have all had AA lose to 72o, or some miracle runner runner at poker, but its not too often you lose out on 100k because you forgot to bet .20 cents.
