Two Big Mistakes I’ve made In Internet Marketing

Internet MarketingThe last 15 months have been a great experience for me. It was 15 months ago that I started my first “real” website and started on my journey as an internet marketer. I worked weeks on the design and overall feel of the website, and I had spent weeks researching and targeting keywords. Looking back now, I’m surprised I made any money at all.

since the launch of my first website (which I no lonegr own) I now have 18 websites that all make money and serve a specific purpose. I didn’t really intend to make tons of money or become a”known” internet webmaster, but it seems to be working out ok. There have been plenty of bumps in the road though, and i’m going to share them here.

Mistake #1 - Thinking I was better than I was

As I mentioned above, I thought I knew more than I did. Turns out, I didn;’t know shit! One of the best things to happen to me is I started talking to SEO Guru Randy Ray. For whatever reason, Randy took a liking to me and started teaching me how to make moneywith my websites the RIGHT way. He has spent hours helping me with SEO, keywords, and he even bought my first website and that gave me capital to invest into a network of site. In short, this guy is great and his help is the #1 reason I am still in the business.

So, mistake #1 was over estimating my abilities and knowledge. Finding a mentor is the best and smartest things anyone wanting to make money in a new feild can do.. Thanks again Mr. Ray!

Mistake #2 - Too many projects

My second biggest mistake was building too many sites.  Now, building multiple sites is actually a great thing to do, but if you are like me with a full time family (6 kidos :) ) then you have to either work 24 hours a day, or understand your limitations and seek a qualified staff or partner to help with the slack.

To build quality websites and to bring quality to your visitors, you need to be able to invest the time and energy into it. People searching around on the internet are picky, they don’t want to check on a site they like and see nothing new there. eventually, they just won’t come back. Websites are living pages and visitors are your customers. You must understand and embrace that if you want to do well in this business.

I recently took on a partner with two of my websites. I was really nervous about doing this, but if you approach it the right way and discuss every detail in depth, this can actually be a great thing to do. I am positive that all my sites were suffering because I don’t have enough time in the day to write content, get links, updates, etc.

So, there you have it, two of the biggest mistakes I’ve made so far in my internet ventures. Keep these in mind if you are planning on trying this business out and I promise you it will save you plenty of sleepless nights..
