Things Move Fast In This business
Well, I’ve said it many times before, this industry can change overnight! So many big things have happened since my last post it’s amazing! I’m going to try and keep this post short, but I’ll cover what I can.
First off, one of the most influential men in the Poker Affiliate and Gaming industry has made another move that has the industry rockin’! Jeremy Enke announced that he will no longer be the admin of the Poker Affiliate Programs Forum (PAP Forum). Publicly he didn’t really give a reason and just said he was moving on and had too many big projects in the works.
Jeremy has been “The Man’ in this business for a long time. He started the Party riches Forum, which became the PAW Forum, which became what is now the PAP forum. Personally, I never thought the PAP thing would work out too well for him, and I guess I was right. From what I know about Jeremy, he is his own man and I don’t think he will ever be able to work for someone else. He is his own boss! One thing I’m positive about, Jeremy will make money no matter what he does, the man knows money!
Changes on the PAP Forum
with Jeremy leaving PAP, that caused a chain reaction of events that has affected a lot of people. My good friend and mentor Randy Ray has taken over running the PAP forum. Randy is a SEO guru and has helped me more than anyone ever could. He is a great guy and the best man to keep that forum under control.
With any change, there will be issues. PAW and then PAP has always been a bit of a free for all forum, or at least it wasn’t heavily modded like 2+2 or some other larger forums. People could speak their mind, vent disputes, and pretty much do anything within reason. It wasn’t chaos, but it was a bit wild sometimes. Now that the forum is owned by Warren over at CAP, he has a different idea as to what he wants the forum to be. From my perspective he wants a huge advertising forum and he’s not too concerned with having an actual resource. Maybe that was why Jeremy chose to leave? Only he knows I guess.
This week Pokerstars announced again that they will be coming down heavy on affiliates using domains with their terms left of the tld. Domains like pokerstarsmarketingcode.com, pokerstarsbonus, etc will not be allowed by affiliates. Several affiliates have already had their accounts closed due to this issue.
There was a thread started about this and several affiliates vented about losing their pokerstars accounts and players due to this, but yet some affiliates are being allowed to use their “marketing code” type domains. If course this show a complete biased by Pokerstars and lots of people are pissed about it. The bigger affiliates get better deals, which, isn’t really anything new. The main issue is that pokerstars says NO ONE can do this, and yet it continues.
The big drama bomb was dropped when one of the big affiliates wanted his link to his marketing code type domain deleted form the thread and the PAP guy complied and removed the evidence of Pokerstars lying.
Many people didn’t like the link being deleted, but the admin doesn’t own the place, and if his boss says to do something then I guess that’s what he has to do. Still, some people just were left with a bad taste in their mouth (me included). It just goes to show what the real priorities of the CAP/PAP owners are. It is no longer a resource for Poker/Gaming affiliates, its an ad machine set on getting ad space revenue from any program that pays them.
So, I guess it’s an end of an era and the start of a new one. that’s the way this business goes. You go to bed and when you wake up, everything has changed!
