Arkansas Poker and Relaxing

As most of the readers here know, I live in Arkansas and work 80 hours a week at my regular job and my web marketing job. Well, with hard work comes rewards! It’s the holidays, the end of 2008, and my life is very good!

As you can read in this blog, 2008 has had many ups and downs, but more ups for sure. Now that Christmas is over things are starting to settle back down and I can feel 2009 coming fast. I’ve decided to take a week of vacation from my “regular” job and give myself some much needed R&R. I’m sure I’ll think of a good poker strategy article or if my wife has her way, start another website. My brother in-law had a really cool website idea that is outside of gaming. I haven’t done too many sites outside of this niche, but the ones I have done are doing well. Also, I heard from an old poker player friend of mine “Greg” and he has some cool internet marketing ideas I’m interested in. I’ll post more on that later.

Anyway, I plan on trying to relax and bum around the house for the next 9-10 days. I cannot imagine not working all that time though. All the kids will be here, so I’m sure I’ll stay busy and have some much needed family time.

I also plan on playing some poker! The nearest casino is in Tunica, MS and that’s a 3 hour drive so we don’t get down that way much. There is a few VFW poker games that some friends of mine say are super soft. they have re-buy tournaments and some 2/5 NL cash games, best of all they do not charge rake! I just have to buy a membership for like $25 every month. There is also a game in Hot Springs I keep hearing about. It sounds like a decent sized (100 players) $100 MTT, so I may have a chance to play that one too.

Arkansas seems to have a funny view on poker and any other form of gambling in this state. It seems like there are bingo halls, poker games, and even “other” games going everywhere. Just like everything else in life, you just have to know the right people.
